The term “ecosexual” was coined by two women who, Beth Stephens and Annie Sprinkle, two women who claim to be passionately and fiercely in love with the earth, on May 1, 2014, married the soil. Yes, you read that right. The two were attracted to the soil for its ability to give life and its beauty. You can bet they got down and dirty on the honeymoon.
Ecosexuals talk dirty to plants, kiss and lick the earth, bury themselves in soil and do nude dances while the environment watches on.
They also swim naked in natural waters, hug and stoke trees and give the earth massages.
How do you know if you’re an ecosexual?
According to Beth Stephens and Annie Sprinkles, an ecosexual is someone who likes to:
“……talk dirty to plants, kiss and lick the earth, bury themselves in soil and do nude dances while the environment watches on. They also swim naked in natural waters, hug and stroke trees and give the earth massages.”
But if you’re a closet ecosexual, where can you let your freak flag fly? The “Ecosexual Bathhouse” is a series of rooms located at the Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens in Australia.

“We believe the biggest sex organ is the brain, and that if we apply our faculties for imagination and sensory immersion to the environment, we can learn to love the earth and respect the diversity and intricacy that exist around us everyday,” according to Ian Sinclair and Loren Kronemyer who created the Ecosexual Bathhouse.
We’re not actually out there humping trees—even though sometimes we will kind of perform that—but it’s more about breaking down separations between humans and nature.
Contraception is too an important part of ecosexuality and people have to slip a condom over their finger before they stroke the flowers. “The experience depends on the approach of each participant,” the duo said.
Participants can sit in a bathtub full of dirt, wear surgical masks with grass growing out of them and even stroke plants in the various rooms. Worried about catching an ecosexually transmitted disease?
Stephens and Sprinkle, in 2011, created the Ecosex Manifesto which outlines both how much they love the earth and how to interact with it. The manifesto translated ecosexuality for a wider audience, establishing it as a flexible combination of activism and identity, not a salacious sexual preference.
Stephens, a professor of art at the University of California, Santa Cruz, grew up in West Virginia, in the shadow of the Appalachian Mountains and the heart of coal country.
Sprinkle grew up in Los Angeles and worked in the adult industry in New York City for 22 years. She spent the first few decades of her life out of touch with nature, though she’d always dreamed of living by water or in a redwood forest.
“Do you find skinny-dipping pleasurable? Do you ever lay in the sand and feel the heat of it and get a little turned on? I think most people do, but because they see the earth as something spiritual, or nature almost like God, they don’t want to have sex with it. But we think sex can be spiritual,” says Sprinkle. We’re trying to shift the metaphor from “earth as mother” to “earth as lover”.
According to Stephens, you can be asexual and still be ecosexual. It has to do with your feelings toward the earth. “We’re not actually out there humping trees—even though sometimes we will kind of perform that—but it’s more about breaking down separations between humans and nature. If you can separate yourself from nature, then you don’t have much of a problem killing nature, exploiting it for resources, and so on,” says Stephens.

According to The Local, the website was designed to ‘give migrants who have been in Germany for a short time, the opportunity to inform themselves on sexual and reproductive health.’
Confusing. Could that apply to tourists?
This is not a private venture, the website was actually paid for and is operated by a goverment agency, the German Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA), a specialist authority within the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG).
It’s pretty strange, and several news outlets are reporting different things. Some are saying that the website has been set up to encourage tourists to have sex with their residents, others are saying that it’s an educational tool for refugees who’ve been in Germany for a while.
Either way, it’s a bit weird.
And it seems to suggest that grown men and women don’t know what masturbation is despite the fact that pretty much every single person on planet Earth has touched themselves since they were a teenager.
You can check out the website here, but be warned… it’s weird.
The website has a section called: ‘Reasons To Have Sex’.
“You can have sex for different reasons. For example, because you want to: have children; experience sexual pleasure; express love and other feelings; experience intimacy; and relax”. That last one is my favourite.
The default page is in German, but no problem, the website is available in 12 languages, including English.
The website gets graphic in showing the erogenous zones for many people, sexual pleasure, first-time sex, relationships and feelings, rights and law and so on. Other advice tell women to ‘not swallow’ after performing oral sex on a man.
There also a lot of talk about sexual violence: that ‘sexual coercion, sexual abuse, and rape’, are crimes, and anyone who commits them will be ‘severely punished for it’.

According to the Court, the legislative text has no points of unconstitutionality, and may be voted in second and final debate by the Legislative Assembly.
The draft bill, approved in first debate with 40 votes in favour and three against, stipulates a prison term of up to three years for sexual relations with a minor who between 15 and under 18 years of age when the adult seven years older or more and doubled (six years) if the minor is 13 and 14 and the adult is five years or older than the minor.
The Penal Code in Costa Rica constitutes it a ‘sex crime’ if the victim is between 13 and 18 years of age, and rape if under 13, where no matter the age difference, is punishable with ten to sixteen years in prison.
The draft bill was sent to the Constitutional Court for review by a group of legislators, led by legislator Otto Guevara, to ensure the bill does not violate constitutional laws if and when in force.
Guevara said his position continues against the approval of the law and in second debate will be voting against it.
The draft bill obtained quick approval (in first debate) by the majority of legislators present in the Assembly, following the case in July of a school teacher in Perez Zeledon marrying her 15 year old student.
In Costa Rica, a minor between 15 and under 17 can legally marry with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

(TODAY COSTARICA) Costa Rican model Adriana Kathia Corella will be spending the next four years and six months in prison, sentenced by a Nicaraguan court for money laundering and organized crime.
The sentence was read Wednesday afternoon by judge of the Seventh Criminal Court District Trial of Managua, Octavio Rothschuh.

Corrella was one of the members of the “Cacique” gang that moved drugs between Costa Rica and Nicaragua. She was one of five people arrested in Nicaragua last December 4.
During the police operation, Nicaragua authorities seized 285 kilos of cocaine hidden in the fuel tanks of two tractor trailers and in the compartment of another vehicle, a pick up truck, US$871,000 in cash.

At the time, Nicaragua’s national police reported that a Costa Rican, identified as Maruo Ruiz Lopez, 40, and designated at the gang leader, escaped police, but was later found in a luxury home, where he had committed suicide.
Initially the model was also charged with international drug traffickng, however, in the trial in June last, judge Rothschuh acquitted her of that offense.
Lopez was Corella’s better half and father of the couple’s five year old daughter. The child is now in the custody of Corella’s parents in Costa Rica, released to them by the Nicaraguan child welfare agency.
At trial, Corella was described as the person who handled the money for the gang, despite vowing her innocence, and alleging she was a victim of domestic violence.
According to an AFP report, it was not clear if Corella would be spending her time in a Nicaraguan prison for women, or as in the case of other Costa Ricans sentenced in Nicaragua, would be repatriated to Costa Rica, to serve her time on Tico soil.
In the Wednesday sentencing, the other members of the gang were sentenced from 5 to 15 years in prison.
During trial, the Nicaraguan press had a field day, with headlines included “Tica Model Brings Her Closet to Prison” and “Tica Model Dazzles Court in Managua“, and photos of the sexy dress the model wore in court.

]]>The bill proposes that sex between and adult (a person over 18) can have sex with a minor over 15 and not yet 18, without legal problems, if the age difference is less than 7 years. That is, a 21 year old can have sex with a 17 year old and no big deal.
The proposal also allows for sex between an adult and 13 to 15 year old if the age difference is not less than five years.
In both instances, if the age gap is higher, the prison is between two and three years in the first (15 to 18) and two to four years in the second (13 to 15).
But, prison is only for repeat offenders or the sentence is for fours in the second. That is because Costa Rica law allows judges the option of handing out a conditional sentence, ie. probation if a sentence is three years of less.
Sex with minor under 13 is a complete no-no, the proposal deems it statutory rape.
The other change is the prohibition of a marriage between an adult and a minor, age difference or not. The current law allows for a marriage between an adult (of any age) with a minor 15 years of age and over with parental consent.
The bill still requires second reading and final vote before it go into effect.
Another note is that, although we are accustomed to thinking the adult is a man and the minor a young girl, the law applies equally to sex between and adult female and a young boy.
Believe it or not, there has been a growing trend in Costa Rica of relationships between an older woman and a young boy. The case in point is the latest to hit the news, that of a 40 year old school teacher marrying her 15 year old student. In this case, the mother of the young boy gave consent.
To sum it all up, if the proposal becomes law:
- No problems with sex between an adult and a minor between 13 and 17, as long as the age gap is more less than seven years (15 to 17) and five years (13 and 14)
- If the age gap is more, sentence is from two to three years in the 15-17 and two to four years in the case of 13-14
- Jail time is only if the sentence is more than three years. Costa Rica judges can opt for conditional sentence, ie probation, thus jail time could be only in the 13-14
- No marriage of minors at all.
- Under 13 and you will go to jail
- The law applies both to female minors with adult males and male minors with adult females, or male to male and female to female relationships
What does this mean to you, a foreigner?
Really nothing in that it is still a really bad idea for a foreigner to have sex with someone under the age of 18, currently or if the new law is approved.
Even if say the girl is under 18 and over 15 and you have parental consent or the consent of the legal guardian.
Even under the best of circumstances you are opening yourself potentially to going to jail. The country does not, will not tolerate, foreigners visiting for the idea of having sex with minors.
Don’t do it. There is one turning 18 every day, why take chances.

(TODAY COSTARICA) The business of “escorts” is common and lucrative in Costa Rica, varying people paying a woman or a man to accompany them to social activities or event and the covenant sometimes, not always, includes the payment for sex.
Contacts are made by phone, messaging applications, or other media leaving no trace, the transactions are always in cash, with the provider the service pocketing it. Some estimates, according to several polls by Crhoy.com, the “escorts” can earn up to US$1,000 per night, tax-free.
All prostitutes are escorts, but, not all “escorts” are prostitutes.

And that has gotten the attention of the tax man, the Ministry of Finance, who is looking to uncover these people avoiding to pay taxes.
Crhoycom reports that “…Being socially reprehensible activities, people who perform these actions do so hidden and often in different locations, receiving only cash,” said Fernando Rodriguez Deputy Minister of Revenue, who reported that they are people who handle large sums of cash.
According to Rodriguez, the escort business is not the only lucrative activity that is avoiding the taxman. In the country there are many “informal activities” that bypass the payment of taxes, such as self-employed professionals working from home or don’t have a need for a physical location.
All lucrative activities in Costa Rica must pay taxes
Their commonality is receiving payment in cash and with no paper trail. This includes professional like escorts, but can also be a repairman, fixing a refrigerator or washer, for example, offering a lower price in return for a cash payment. In the latter, some will even offer a warranty and a written receipt, but not in an ‘official receipt’, that is a receipt registered with Taxation under the “Facturas y Recibos Timbrados por Tributación Directa”.
The official explains that the only way they can identify some of the people who earn large sums of untaxed cash is when they decide to make a large purchase, such as a car or a house, and that information reaches the Tax Department.
Rodriguez said that it is for this reason, among others, proposals have been made to find ways to reduce the use of cash in the Costa Rican economy.
Experts say, that although all lucrative activities must pay taxes, the Ministry of Finance fails to uncover informal activities, leaving a gap, allowing for the avoidance of payment of taxes on earnings.

CR!S NEWS) It was 1:30am Thursday when apparently two men on a motorcycle opened fire on a man in the front of the Hotel Del Rey in downtown San Jose.
According to the sketchy report by Diario Extra, the two men on the motorcycle fired while in motion, hitting a man identified as Fonseca, apparently a local taxi driver.
Manuel Miranda, paramedic for the Cruz Roja, told the Extra that the man 45 year old man was impacted twice in the waist.
A friend of CR!S, in the area at the time of the shooting, sent a note saying that it was over quickly and the target was the taxi driver, over some dispute over drugs and/or money.
This is not the first time. Over the years, similar incidents have occurred around the area of the Hotel del Rey. On one occasion several years back a gunman firing at building’s glass doors.
Incidents around Gringo Gulch as seldom reported by the mainstream media. Information is relied mostly by word of mouth and thanks to periodicals like the Extra that bills itself as Costa Rica’s best selling newspaper, partly due to the sensationalism and stretching the truth, and the photos of almost naked “grandotas” (big picture) of women on Fridays.
The motive for the shooting is unclear.

Each of the aspiring beauty pageant responded separately to questions, focused on issues such as the employment of women, student exclusion, climate change, in vitro fertilization, domestic violence, gender equality and the US election campaign.
The beauty contest, sponosed by Teletica, will be held on August 19 at the Auditorio Nacional del Centro Costarricense de la Ciencia y la Cultura (Museo de los Niños), in San José, starting at 8:00pm.
Hosts for the event are Mexican actress Carmen Aub (El señor de los cielos) and Randall Vargas (Dancing with the Stars Costa Rica).

The chilling confessions from infamous Cartel hitwoman, Juana, have been released from her Californian prison cell. The 28-year-old was known as “La Peque” or “the Little One” in her days as a member of one of the most notorious Mexican cartels called the Zetas.
She has allegedly written an account of her history in the cartel on an anonymous blog.
Juana began her cartel career as a lookout for police and army patrols. Previously, she worked as a prostitute as a means to support herself and her child when she became pregnant at 15 years old by a man who was 20 years her senior.
She said: “Ever since I was a little girl I was a rebel, and then became a drug addict and an alcoholic.”
She said that she began to “feel excited by it, rubbing myself in it and bathing in it after killing a victim. I even drank it when it was still warm.” According to reports, Juana said she “had sex with the cadavers of those decapitated, using the severed heads as well as the rest of their bodies to pleasure herself.”
The former cartel member is still awaiting sentencing.
]]>This according to Rachel (and four of her friends), a teenager who became pregnant at the age of 12 and is now part of a group of adolescents under the care of the Iniciativa Mesoamerica project, a group that seeks to lower the number of pregnant minors.
In an investigative report, La Nacion consulted with a representative of the Ministry of Health, Nancy Vargas, confirming the existence of parents who offer their 11-year-old daughters for sexual encounters, for example, with owners of stores or bars, in return for the forgiveness of a debt or some other economic benefit.
Every 90 minutes a baby is born in Costa Rica to a teen mom.
Vargas confirmed that in fieldwork conducted in 11 districts of the Huetar Caribe and Brunca (southern zone), there are parents or guardians who take economic advantage of the sexuality of their children and adolescents.
The La Nacion team says it visited the province of Limon, deep in the banana plantations and pineapple farms, exacerbated by poverty and lack of opportunities, stories as described by Rachel are a daily occurrence.
Children are used as currency for the payment of a debt (liquor and gambling, for example), to improve their economic situation, to get a better paying job or simply for easy money, according to Vargas, is a reality of the area.
The offering of minors by the parents or guardians to have sex with an adult, is a reality that affects an unknown number of girls in different areas of the country, according to the experts.
“Go over there, let him touch you and bring back half of what he gives you.” With some variance, those are words heard often by children from their parents, narrates Sofia, a minor now under the care of the Patronato Nacional de la Infancia (PANI) – the child welfare agency – from a Limon banana plantation community.
In Costa Rica, every 90 minutes a child is born to a mother between the age of 12 and 17, according to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Offering children for sexual purposes has authorities concerned. The stories, testimony and findings of social workers and specialists of institutions such as the PANI, the Ministry of Education (MEP), the Cen-CINAI and Ngo’s like the Defence for Children International (DCI), have allowed to shed light on this phenomenon.
According to the director of the DNI Costa Rica, Karin Van Kjuik, the situation is due to the environment in which the minors are raised. “What happens is that within breeding patterns there are multiple manifestations of violence. Care must be taken, because per se the families do not seek evil for their children.”
“Sometimes the family will think they (the young girls) are better off with these men,” added Kjuik.
“Unfortunately it happens. This is not a secret to anyone. It is not only in one area; It is something that happens all over the country. Is a reality that must be corrected,” says Dr. Tatiana Rivas, regional coordinator for Iniciativa Mesoamerica for the Huetar region.
The bill to punish with prison the act of sex with anyone under 15 years old is stalled in Congress
Dr. Rivas emphasizes that complaints from the community and public officials is essential. For Rivas, the issue of age and mental maturity is a factor that plays against the minors, so it is important that relationships between a minor and persons five years older than them should not occur.
“The complexity is that many people begin to see the situation in a context of normality; I can not point out the places, but it occurs in rural areas and in cities; we are working for so that there is better responsiveness,” said Rivas.
Currently, stalled in the Legislative process is a bill to punish with prison sexual relations with anyone under 15 years of age.
The proposed bill seeks to prohibit marriage for minors and sets a maximum difference of 5 years between a minor and an adult to have sex. Violating the age difference would mean a prison term of 2 to 4 years, typifying it as an “improper relationship”.
