Costa Rican model Kathia Adriana Corella Rojas’ modeling days are over, after a Nicaragua court sentenced her to 17 years in prison for money laundering and racketeering.
On Wednesday, June 20, 2106, the Managua (Nicaragua) court, headed by Judge Octavio Rothschuh, convicted the Tica model, who was also a member fo the Cacique criminal gang involved in drug trafficking, money laundering and organized crime.

The Court found that the 25 year-old model was in charge of receiving and safekeeping the group’s money.
Corrella was arrested in Nicaragua on December 3, 2015 and held in preventive detention up her trial that started in the middle of June, when police captured several members of criminal group, seizing 285 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the fuel tanks of tractor trailers, US$871,000 dollars in cash and a pick-up truck, among other items that included guns and real estate.
Her supposed husband and alleged head of the gang, Wálter Mauricio Pereira Castillo, a Costa Rican national resident of Alajuela, who is also believed to the father of Corella’s five year-old daughter, killed himself when cornered by police.
The investigation revealed that the couple had been in Nicaragua for a month when they were surprised by police.
