Many women in Costa Rica don’t consider themselves a prostitute, yet they like to their “outings” and the money that comes with that.
Many will tell you that they are often wrongly-judged because of their appearance. The say they often mistaken as escorts, all by the way the dress, flirt to get things, etc.
In Costa Rica we have many women who, living alone, children and no visible means of support, choose the company of men willing to pay for her time. But, does that make her a prostitute? The majority will say no.
For them, prostitutes are the women at the infamous downtown Hotel Del Rey or Key Largo. Prostitutes ar the women who wait on men in massage parlours and night clubs (strip clubs). No, what they do, to them, is not considering prostitution, it is a way of life.
There is no shame in going out with a man and after he buys her things, gives her money to pay the bills, the school books for her children. Taking money up front would make a prostitute.
So, if you apply the logic of these women, if you are paying up front (like rent) you are with a prostitute.
But, if you are showering her with gifts, buying dinner, donating to her favourite utility company, contributing to her (and her children’s) school tuition, helping out with the medical bills of a sick family member, and so on, you are with a …
