Volaris Inaugurates Costa Rica – Mexico Low-Cost Flights

The ultra low-cost airline Volaris this week opened operations in Costa Rica with two flights between San Jose and Mexico’s Cancun and Guadalajara.

On Thursdays and Sundays, Volaris flights to Guadalajara, Jalisco leave San Jose at 7:05pm and arriving at 11:30pm; to Cancun the flights leave at 11:25am, arriving in Mexico at 2:20pm. The return flight from Guadalajara leaves at 7:20am, arriving at 9:55am; leaves Cancun at 4:15pm and arrives at San Jose at 5:35pm.

Volaris is offering round-fare tickets, including taxes, starting at US$230 or US$129 one way for bookings by September 14, with travel from October 1, 2015 to April 30, 2016.

“We are thrilled to open our second Central America destination. This is further proof of our commitment to low-cost connectivity,” said Luis Suarez, director of customer service and sales at Volaris.

Mauricio Ventura, Costa Rica’s minister of Tourism, said the new routes strengthens the actions by the ICT (Instituto Costarricense de Turismo) to promote tourism between Mexico and Costa Rica, and the opportunity to of more connections to other destinations in Mexico and the U.S.
