COSTA RICA CONFIDENTIAL – The not-so-much popular hang out for whoremongers, SCORES, has shut its doors and left its employees without pay and their aguinaldo, the annual holiday bonus in Costa Rica.
SCORES billed itself for the gentlemen who enjoys watching quality sports, meeting lovely ladies, eating great food, experiencing a top local bar atmosphere, and all combinations.
When CONFIDENTIAL last visited SCORES on Friday, January 2, 2015 a sign at the door said they were closed for the holidays and would be re-opening on January 5.
The re-opening never took place.
The bar is/was located on Calle 3A between Avenida 7 & Avenida 9, in Barrio Amon. Their website is still active (last checked on January 9).
The now former employees explained to Diario Extra that this is little hope and not much the Ministry of Labour can do to get them their salaries and bonus, given that owner Jefferson Brand, a Canadian, is hiding from inspectors.
The employees said that the slow payment of their wages and left without the Caja (Social Security) coverage as normal, given that it had been a travesty working with the foreigner, who repeatedly change the name of the hotel and company name to evade tax responsibilities and contributions to the Caja.
Marco Leandro, reporter for the Extra, said his calls to Brand have gone unanswered.
Harold Villegas, Vice Minister of Labour, who said that is was not aware of the particular case, is just another of the many companies violating the paying of the aguinaldo and declaring bankruptcy during the holidays.
