It can be amazing how Latina women will do whatever to improve their looks and with little to no regard for more important things, like learning English.
This is the complaint by many mongers visiting Costa Rica, expecting the local women to be fluent in “their” language, while making any attempt to learn the language spoken by the women, Spanish.
I’ve seen it over and over, guys coming down to Costa Rica for years, some a decade or more, others spending a considerable amount of time in each trip, yet cannot form a complete sentence in Spanish. The same guys who now expect their latest pick up, however, to speak perfect English.
It’s just annoying, some say. “Why can’t they learn, take the time?
But seriously, if you want to get the best out of each trip, learn the language. You don’t have to be 100% fluent, but enough to carry a conversation. Or better to understand what is going on around you.
No, many mongers prefer the grizzled veteran who has learned English from working (sexing) with gringos for years. And then they complain she’s lost that latin charm.
In Costa Rica, although English is spoken in many places, the language of the land is Spanish. Why wouldn’t you want to eliminate the biggest barrier between you and the girl? And have access to the most naive and unhardened girls?
In marginal barrios like Alajuelita and areas of Desamparados, for example, there are tons of girls who you can hook with, only if you spoke enough Spanish to get past the hola stage.
In between trips, take the time to learn a few words. And then practice it on your next visit. Which each trip, your vocabulary expands, your confidence increases and before you know it, you won’t need to limit your hunting grounds area around Gringo Gulch.
